In case you missed it, Acer has quietly worked his way up to No. 3 in the global PC market, a real achievement. What we found in Budapest was that Acer has no intention to cut down.

According to Acer, the growth of desktop PCs every year has been reduced to a miserable 1.7%, while the phones are up to 35%. On that basis, Acer desktops again speculate that instead of saving desk space where it is expected perform at the level of play while quiet and safe, far from the farmers giant dust that glow eerily in our desks for the company. That said, it seems mobile is where we expect to see most of the action.

In addition to addressing the market leaders, specifically diffusion HP products and strategy for online success of Dell, Acer is also taking pictures with other players, such as Asus and specifically the notebook market. Although it is highly questionable, Acer hinted that began developing the Asus Aspire One before cracks on the Eee, but decided to stay back and wait for the atom instead of the release of 16 different models. While the price of one of them is certainly the limit is a better machine, but nobody cares?

Acer then, PCs have their bases covered with the top predator and the bottom with the Aspire One, but what happens in the middle which is very interesting. You might be familiar with the Packard Bell brand, hopefully through some poor relation who has cheated in a retail store. During the years that have greatly improved, but longer than were the bane of IT professionals to hold off tower desktops via the components of mystery and the insistence on making their semi-proprietary machines. This meant irreplaceable component generally missing drivers and a lot inauguration at the time of committing sewer, plus they were butt ugly.

Why this walk through memory lane? Well Acer has recently engulfed Packard Bell, and two other mediocre brands, Gateway and eMachines, but instead of eating little by little competition that have opted for an approach multi-brand in the marketplace. Multibrand not something you see often in the IT world, but basically consists of keeping the identity of the respective marks and dissemination through of them every price point and market segment. In terms of engine is similar to VW, Audi, Bugatti and a little more to be part of a big company and while they overlap in points that have covered the market. In this case, Packard Bell and Gateway address market segments that deal with the so-called style (yuck!), While Acer will the premium brand through the Board.

Despite our bias toward Packhard Bell, there is nothing wrong with their latest offerings, especially some of their gaming platforms. Acer legendary support could probably be applied to a rock and sold, so the overall strategy could be a deciding factor.

The global domination aside, there is a product that trumps everything else: the Predator. Unfortunately the local implementation fills Predator semi-naked models, COD4 and free grog. I heard that apparently the machines where the screen too. Fortunately, we played with the predator, since then, and in short, is out of this world.

Acer started by trying to modify the existing hardware in some high performance, but as expected, cooling became a major problem. In March 2007, instructed its contingent from Taiwan to build an absolute monster, again with the existing components. The results were positive to fail and it was too late to the market in 2007 it was decided to discard the plan and start from scratch, this time however, did well.

In October 2007 they were back to the drawing board with the modus operandi of the costs are less important. What returned was a water-cooled, Quad Extreme QX9650, Triple SLI (9800 GTXs) monster, with 8 GB of RAM all housed in one of the most sexy of the cases we have seen. The whole system has been possible thanks to a personalized license plate and if that is so efficient that overclocking is not only possible but encouraged. However, Acer did not stop there, its system of property and the guarantee will be happy to accept the additional parts and upgrades, even if they are steel. Expect to pay around $ 5000 for the eliminator at the top of the range, although there will be different versions, and also various price points, including blue AMD configurations. Look out for a review as soon as we arrived at our gloves in one.

Go Baby, Go

One of the most important statements made in Hungary was that even computer games Eclipses of the console industry. Since its creation, personal computers working tools have always been first and toy enthusiast second. When a company like Acer, boldly says the future of desktop computers is the game and the performance and deliveries of products such as the Predator to back up, we have within all warm and fuzzy.
