Shortly after the release of the Sony PS3, rumors have been swirling around the World Wide Web about a potential successor PS3. Introduction to the Playstation 4 Vice President of Technology for Sony Entertainment Europe has responded to speculation by suggesting the release of a next generation console is "likely." That finding has fueled the rumors, claims a new console can hit the stores as soon as 2011.
The Internet is awash with PS4 alleged drive specifications and possible release dates. The truth of the matter is, however, there have been other announcements of the Sony console is only in stages of development. "It is likely that PS3 sales still strong, that a new console does not become a reality by 2013 at the earliest. This Please many players who struggled to pay a sign on the high price PS3 between $ 500 – $ 600 at launch, the cost more expensive for a console yet.
Sony will continue about market trends and sales of PS3 in the next 18-24 months to assess whether a Playstation 4 is still needed in the foreseeable future. Many players believe that the potential the PS3 has not been unlocked yet and you see significant improvements in the hidden console. Sony need to be careful not to fall under Microsoft again, however as he suffered sales significantly reduced when they were beaten to the release of the Sony PS3 by something Xbox 360 – can not afford to happen again.
Speculators suggest that Sony could consider releasing two versions of the console of the future both with and without Blu Ray. This would give consumers the opportunity to buy a console for less, if they choose the console with no Blu Ray technology. This, of course, help Sony to gain market share by appealing to a target audience. With the current economic climate, Sony feel pressured to create a new console that is both affordable and innovative, and have to do before they release the rumored Microsoft 'Xbox 720'.
Our view is that the major players in the console market is aspiring to a pre-Christmas release of their new consoles, either in 2012 or 2013. This is sure to create a mixed response among the players, especially as Sony in the past has given the PS3 a "life expectancy 10 years" which would mean a new console will not hit stores until around 2016/2017.
Remains to be seen if Sony will beat Microsoft, and indeed Nintendo (Wii 2) for the market with its next console. With so much rumor and speculation surrounding the console industry today, its definitely time uncertain future for the players, but sources are in fact the deposit of Sony, this time to open the road.
