So no surprise when we see the growing popularity of home entertainment. With the DVR, On-Demand, and Pay-Per-View is now easier than ever to enjoy a nice night at home. You think that video rental stores like Blockbuster are thriving in this bad economy. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
When Netflix Launched in 1999 changed the form of rent and watched movies. RedBox are small kiosks that are placed in local supermarkets and pharmacies (usually in form of a box office hit), which offers newly released DVD's for a dollar a night. Blockbuster's new releases are $ 4.99 for 2-nights.
Due to overwhelming pressure from Netflix, and RedBox, Blockbuster was forced to close 960 of its 3700 retail stores this year. Nobody knows how long they can resist Blockbuster. I guess it can not be much longer.
